News 2: February 2011

Since the Launch of the Community Plan on 7 December 2010 a Steering Group has been formed which will be responsible for its preparation and completion. The Members are Joan Broady, Richard Hartree, Ann Lewis, Sue Mattinson, Tracey Morbey and Peter Robinson together with Oswyn Murray and John Simms as Parish Council representatives. The first meeting was held on 17 January 2011. Officers appointed were Chair – Richard Hartree, Secretary – Sue Mattinson and Treasurer – Peter Robinson.

The next event will be a Community Plan ‘Open Day’ in the Village Hall on Saturday 19 March, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm to enable villagers to drop in during the day and find out more about the PLAN, particularly those who were unable to attend the Launch. This was reported in the February Sibford Scene and will also be posted on the village website. There will be no formal presentation but good opportunities to talk with Steering Group members and an ORCC representative about what Community-Led Plans are, their benefits, and how they are prepared. Everyone will also be invited to take part in a Like and Dislike survey. Families are particularly welcome and children will be able to take part in their own Like and Dislike survey as well as other activities. We shall be glad to receive names of more people who are ready to join the group of volunteers who came forward at the Launch to offer help with work on the PLAN. Refreshments will be available; if anyone would like to contribute a cake, please contact Sue Mattinson, T: 780471.

We need an engaging Logo for our Community Plan so please come along with your ideas. These can either be submitted on the day or within a week following the Open Day after which entries will be judged by the Head of Art at Sibford School and a teacher from Sibford Primary School.

Following the Open Day the Steering Group will review all the Like and Dislike responses and principal issues and decide on the main fields of activity needed to prepare the PLAN. After that, volunteer Working Groups will be established to work on the various topics. You will learn more about these in future newsletters.

Do come along to the Open Day even if you were able to attend the Launch. For those of you who couldn’t make it on that cold frosty night last December, here’s your chance to find out more about the Community Plan and have your say – everybody’s contribution is important!
