Over the centuries, England has been split by internal conflicts – Stephen and Matilda, the Wars of the Roses and the Civil War itself. The Sibfords have always benefited from being off the beaten track, and there is no record of war having visited them, even though the Battle of Edgehill was fought only 7 miles away. Armies always found better routes to follow.
