Horti visit to Rodmarton Manor

The Horti has secured a private visit to this renowned Arts and Crafts house and garden; this is a unique opportunity to visit without the crowds.
We begin with a guided tour of the house, built in the early 20th century when furniture was being mass-produced; Ernest Barnsley who designed the house countered this trend by sourcing local materials for the building and commissioning skilled local Cotswold craftsmen and women to do the work and the result is a celebration of the English Arts and Crafts movement at its best. (There is wheelchair access to the ground floor.)
After lunch we will enjoy a guided tour of the 8 acre garden which was also designed by Barnsley. He used hedges to create specific outdoor rooms close to the house. Beyond, there are superb vistas and long views into the surrounding countryside, and at the time of our visit, white borders, magnificent herbaceous borders and an abundance of roses. There are also plenty of places to sit and relax before enjoying tea and cake. (Most of the garden is accessible by wheelchair.)

We welcome the return of Lizzy Rowe, this time to talk about John Piper. He was a neo-Romantic British artist, writer and designer. Traces of him can be found all over Oxfordshire. The talk will show you Oxfordshire through the eyes of a man who cared deeply about the countryside and our built heritage and celebrated it in his art.

Launch of The Sibfords’ Parish Plan
Steered by local residents, a community led plan sets out a VISION of how your community wants to develop and identifies the ACTION needed to achieve it.
Sibford Ferris and Sibford Gower Parish Councils have confirmed their support for the preparation of a Joint Parish Plan.
Come and join us for a livety and informative evening at the Village Hall on Tuesday 7th December at 7.30 pm to share your views on how we can improve The Sibfords for the future. We hope to see you there! Refreshments will be available.
Why do a Parish Plan?
- A shared vision for the whole community which can identify and kick start new projects in the village
- A greater sense of community spirit, with an opportunity for everyone to contribute
- Influence and inform others and give a local perspective on policy making
- Highlight areas of concern and how best to address them.
The meeting will be attended by Oxfordshire Rural Communities Council who will explain about Community-led plans and their benefits.
If you require further information in advance of the Parish Plan Launch Event, contact:
