Visited Richard Haines, William Haines, Widow Reason.

Had conversation with Dr Routh and Mr Oddie about Church matters and Mr Mann’s conduct. They consider that he and Inns have behaved very badly.

Superintended last session of Drawing Examination at the Friends’ School.

Attended Boys’ School this morning and choir in evening. Miss Dix and Miss Slingsby called this evening.

Very fine warm day.

Took Penny Bank at School at 12. Drove Bell to Banbury this afternoon , took Webb. Called at Fortescue’s at their request. Saw Mr Charles Fortescue about Mann and Inns. He had not yet written to them, having been away from home last week. I instructed him to write to them and demand a retraction and apology or a denial that they imputed any dishonourable conduct in connexion with Church accounts to me and my churchwarden.

Visited Rev Graham-Jones at Christ Church Vicarage. Saw Mrs Graham-Jones and her sister. Mr G-Jones was not at home.

Called on Mr Smith of Tadmarton Rectory and offred to take him to Ruri-decanal Chapter at Cropredy on Wednesday next.

John Lamb called for Loggin Poors’ Rate.

Miss Dix called about widows’ and old folks tea tomorrow.

Attended Ruri-decanal Chapter at Dr Wood’s Cropredy. I called for Rev E. J. Smith of Tadmarton and took him with me. We had a good deal of rain going and returning. It came down in torrents as I drove into Sibford.

The old folks’ tea was held in the Schoolroom under the superintendence of the Misses Dix, but there were not many present, owing to the weather. Bell and I went.
