Diary of Rev Edward Stevens

1879, June 13, Friday

Visited Ann Fox, and found Sylvia Fardon in charge. Ann talks very indistinctly – can make out only one or two words of what she wishes to say, such as “yes,” “no,” “thank you.”

Visited Mr and Mrs Shelswell.

I am suffering from headache apparently neuralgia of the scalp.

1879, June 14, Saturday

Visited Job Harris, Eli Webb (not in), Dr Routh with whom I spoke about a subscription which he is getting up for sending Job to the Sanatorium at Eastbourne. I said I would willingly give as much as was necessary to make up the sum required for paying for his board, etc for 3 weeks and his travelling expenses. Routh said about 17/- would be wanted but he would not take the money as he had not asked Mr R . Lamb and one or two others for help which he was sure they would give very willingly.

Visited D. Hone, Joseph Payne, Wycherly, John Enoch.

Webb drove Bell, Rosa, Frank and Mr Elley to Banbury.

I have sore throat. Plaster.
