Letter from Sibford Village Hall Committee
At an Extraordinary Committee Meeting it was agreed that some of the money raised at the Annual Fayre would be used to renew the fencing around the play area at the Hall, including large and small gates, to ensure this area is completely secure and youngsters cannot get on to the road or car park. As this site is mainly used by the Playgroup, who have increased their bookings from September and will be at the Hall four mornings at week, they have agreed to put further play items on this area and these can now be used by hirers using the Hall for children’s parties. The Booking Secretary is Kathleen Winter.
We are also putting a cover on the notice board, to ensure the notices stay in place, and during the holiday period the toilet floors are being repainted.
The date for next years Annual Fayre has been booked for Saturday, 26th June 1999, which we hope will be even better than this year and have already started discussions for improvements – perhaps a Fish & Chip van providing supper instead of a pig roast?
We are awaiting confirmation from Cherwell District Council on theatre evenings. We are hoping to book Oxfordshire Touring Theatre Company’s production of “Don Quixote de la Mancha” for December or January; “Tripping the Light Fantastic”, a play for adults & young people for February or March ; and/or “Thurtinkle’s Telling Tales”, which is alive performance with puppets etc. suitable for 4 years and over in the February half term.
The August car boot sale was not very well attended by stall holders, a couple of them calling but going on to other sites. We raised only £44 but are doing everything to try and promote these sales, advertising in the local press and on two local radio stations. The next sale is on Sunday 6th September. Refreshments available. Thanks again to all who donate items to the Village Hall table. We would be pleased to have your support at these sales as it is a good source of income for the Hall funds.
