Stevens 1879-08-13
Thunder storm this morning, foretold by Americans. Very sultry afterwards.
Visited Mrs Pearce,
Mrs Dix who during Mrs Pearce’s illness is lodging at John Harris’s,
Mr Joseph Woolgrove who told me he had this morning threatened Ben Messenger that if he was again guilty of using bad language in road as he was last Saturday night when drunk he would take out a summons against him. It appears his conduct was very bad and he went home and beat his wife. He received Mr W’s reproof very quietly this morning. I told Mr W I was very glad he had spoken to him and that I would do so too on the first opportunity.
Visited Joshua Lines and Samuel Woolgrove, also Mrs Bond.
