Diary of Rev Edward Stevens

Coal distribution commenced today, supplied by Welford of Aynhoe and Banbury.

I went to London and put up at “National Church Club” New Bond Street.

Received note from Mr Norris telling me that Elijah Hancox’s wife had called on him for the account due for butter etc.

Mr Norris’s note is pasted in the diary at 13 November.

1886, November 17, Wednesday

Showery and cold.

Visited Hengler’s Circus and Maskelyne and Cooke’s entertainment of the “Vanishing Lady” etc.

At Sibford the wedding of Maria Hone of Burdrop and Henry Upton of Shennington took place, performed by Mr White, Curate of Swalcliffe. He also took the funeral of Richard Austin for me.
