Diary of Rev Edward Stevens

1886, June 9, Wednesday

At home all day nursing my leg.

Bell visited Fanny (Mrs John) Barnes for me.

Rosa went to tea with the Misses Dix. It was the first time she had been into their house since her illness commenced, and she enjoyed her visit very much.

1886, June 10, Thursday

The postman called and asked for my promised subscription towards a new horse. He did not bring the completed list, having torn off a portion for which I reproved him. I wrote on the first page “Subscription list closed, sufficient having been collected” or words to that effect and gave him the amount 10/- which I had promised.
