Diary of Rev Edward Stevens

1885, July 7, Tuesday

Received a letter from the Warden of New College saying he purposed coming here tomorrow, with the College Steward, Mr. Wickham, and the Outrider, Mr. Spooner, when on progress through Shutford, Epwell and Swalcliffe. I replied that I should be at home and pleased to receive them.

Visited Phoebe Payne.

Visited School and spoke to some children who had come in late and thus lost their mark for attendance.

1885, July 8, Wednesday

The Warden of New College, (Rev. Dr. W. E. Sewell), Mr. Spooner, as “outrider” and Mr. Wickham as Steward, visited me and I showed them the premises, School and Church. I offered them luncheon but they had just had refreshment at Blenheim Farm, Mr. Mann’s.
