Diary of Rev Edward Stevens

1879, April 18, Friday

Received note of apology from Wells saying that he was coming over here to the Choral practice on Wednesday but was taken ill at Bloxham and had to return.

Vestry meeting at 7 pm. I reappointed Mr Hitchcox as my Churchwarden – giving him to understand that I would relieve him of the office by appointing someone else if he found that he could not perform the duties of the office. He expressed his desire to continue in office and to serve me in the Church. Mr Woolgrove was reappointed as parishioners’ Churchwarden. Charles Barnes to succeed his father. I read extracts from Books of Church law respecting duties of Churchwardens.
