1873, July 8, Tuesday 

Attended Ruridecanal Chapter at Dr Warburton’s, Iffley Rectory. Received a lesson in chanting from Mr Taylor, organist of New College.

1873, July 13, Sunday

Went with Mr Brown to Curzon Chapel, Mayfair this morning. Hole is assistant curate there. We went to St Michael’s, Stockwell in the evening.

1873, July 20, Sunday

Drove to Wallingford. Took morning and afternoon duty. Harry accompanied me. Dined with Mr Hilliard, Churchwarden.

1873, July 21, Monday

Received appointment to chaplaincy at New College through Mr Lee. £100 per annum, duty one week in 3. Withdrew resignation of curacy and wrote to Bishop.

Rosa returned from Ryde accompanied by Miss Henderson.

1873, July 26, Saturday

Bell went to Cheltenham. Telegraphed to Mrs Shelburne, Rock Street, Kemp Town, Brighton for apartments.

1873, August 14, Thursday

Rev L J Lee married Miss Morland, daughter of the Rector of Shabbington.

W Hutton returned to residence.

Took rail to Littlemore and back to see Mr Sankey about services.

Called on Rev F A Wilson this evening. Paid Mr Wilson a guinea fee for examining and reporting on Mr Hutton.

1873, August 15, Friday

Visited Littlemore Asylum in absence of the chaplain. read and prayed with patients. Walked to Horspath and home.

1873, August 17, Sunday

Read prayers and preached at Little more Asylum, and took all the duty at Sandford. Dined with Dr Sankey in the evening.

1873, August 18, Monday

Mr J W Johns, Arbor Hill, Slough, brought his son Wilfred, and old Eton boy to me to prepare for matriculation.

1873, August 19, Tuesday

Drove to Littlemore Asylum, Read and prayed with sick patients. Rosa accompanied me. We took tea with Mr Sankey.

Rev F A and Mrs Wilson came this evening.
