Went to Dog show at Birmingham with Mr Hutton and family. returned to Oxford this evening.

Drove to Sandford. Ayers’s pony being unwell he provided another.
Mr Morgan of Worcester College and Mr Wills called.
Drove to Sandford with pony from the “Horse and Jockey”. Mr Heath of Ward End came to dinner.
Fined 5/- for keeping a Union Library book one day over time.
About £20 in today’s money.
Drove West’s “Horse and Jockey” pony to Sandford this evening, and took all the duty.
W Hutton went home.
Drove west’s pony to Sandford. Dined with Mr Lee at New College this evening.
Chamberlain went home.
Gibson of Worcester and Willcocks of Exeter called this evening.
Called on Mr J Arwall new neighbour, next door, who is new postmaster of Oxford. Called on Morgan of Worcester, no. 3 St Giles.
Rosa came home from Ryde for Christmas vacation.
Went to Sandford this evening by rail to Littlemore.

Miss Dunsterville, one of Rosa’s schoolfriends, came on a visit.
Cab to Sandford this evening for Christmas Tree.
Miss Dunsterville returned from Malvern. W Hole came.
Mr De Trafford called with his son Galfred with reference to putting him with me as a pupil.
Miss Dunsterville returned to Ryde.
Mr De Trafford called again with his son and promised to send him to me on the 18th inst. Terms 50 guineas per annum, French and German extra.
Drove to Sandford and Baldon.
Drove Hole to Dorchester with West’s pony.
Went to North Cheam with Rev C Hole.
Hole frove Mrs Hole and myself to London and back, called on Mrs Brown senior and on Mr Brown at his office.
To London. Met J Brown at Vauxhall. He and I went to Service at Westminster Abbey in morning and to Stockwell Church in evening. Put up at Brown’s for the night.
Called on C Eve, Henry Howe and S H Mountain at respective places of business. Returned to Cheam with Hole in evening.
Went to Wallington with Mrs Hole. Returned to North Cheam.
To Mountain’s in morning, Highbury in afternoon, Mountain’s in evening. Returned to North Cheam.
Hole and I went to Croydon, Eynesford, Farmingham, Lullingstone, London, Sutton, Cheam, mostly by rail.
Returned to Oxford.
W G C De Trafford came as pupil.
Encountered heavy storm of rain driving to Sandford this morning. Very unwell in evening, having apparently taken a violent cold.
Cold somewhat better, but still very unwell with pains in loins and back of head with slight cough. Took Turkish bath.
Took another Turkish bath which seemed to do me good. Spent an hour or two at Miss Hooper’s this evening.
Too unwell to go to Sandford.
