Cab to Sandford. Mr Lee and I lunched with Mr John Martin, one of the churchwardens. Mr Lee and I happened to preach from same text. He in morning, I in afternoon.
Called on Mr Daniel and Mr Pottinger, tutors of Worcester College, to tell them that my work with U.K.S. would not allow me to read for honours in the History School.
Attended Ruridecanal Chapter at Cuddesdon Theological College. Took tea at Wheatley with Rev Mr Ellow, the Rector. Borrowed the Deanery magic lantern.
Walked to Sandford with Mr Lee. Examined schoolchildren for prizes. Mr Lee and I dined at the King’s Arms Hotel, Sandford. There was a Magic Lantern Exhibition in the schoolroom this evening by a travelling exhibitor. Mr Lee and I walked home together.
Overend paid me the £10 he had borrowed.
Cab to Sandford. Dined with Mr Lee at New College in the evening.

I gave a Magic Lantern entertainment in the schoolroom at Sandford this evening. Took Bell, Rosa and Harry there in a fly.

Exhibited Magic Lantern to the patients at Littlemore Lunatic Asylum this evening.
Drove myself to Sandford in a hired pony trap. Rosa entered Miss Hooper’s Ladies’ School. £5.5s per term, for French, music and singing.
Drove to Sandford in hired pony carriage. Dined with Mr Daniel at Worcester College.
Bell went to Cheltenham.
Cab to Iffley. Dined with Dr Warburton, the Rector, and exhibited magic lantern in the schoolroom afterwards.
Pony trap to Sandford. Dined with Edward Bairvaird Hewett, of St John’s College.
Stevens may have misheard the name of his dining companion, probably Edward Balvaird Hewett, who gained his BA at St. John’s College, Oxford in 1874.
Divine Service at Sandford this evening. Went by rail.

Took Frank Coghlan’s pupils, Leigh and Northcote (son of Sir Stafford) every day this week.

Sent cheque to Rev W E Coghlan for £6 in advance for lessons in U. K. Series. (He kept me waiting for these lessons till my patience was exhausted and I had to write very strongly to him.)

I have advertised for a pony. Mr Ayers replied. I tried the pony to Sandford this afternoon, a grey pony and a basket carriage. “Washing basket” pattern. I am to have it for 2/6 a day.
Did not go to Sandford this evening as Mr E Wickham, Senior Tutor of New College, preached.
Mr Owen made complimentary call on Bell.
