Attended Dr Chase’s first lecture on Butler’s Analogy at St Mary Hall at 8.30 this evening.
Wrote to C. Eve consenting to be one of his sureties.
Called on Professor Ogilvie at Christ Church, about Pastoral Theology Lectures, but he was not at home, being ill at Ross, his country Rectory.
Commenced attendance on Prof. Payne Smith’s Public Divinity Lectures, by calling on him. The first lecture will be tomorrow.
Mr. Hole came on business connected with Useful Knowledge Series.

Mr Hole returned to London. I called on Mr Pike, New Inn Hall Street to sign bond for Charles Eve. Mr Pike not in.
Called at Mr Pike’s office again. The deed was not what I expected to find it, and therefore declined for the present to sign it, but wrote for information to Mr Pinkney, Secretary of the “Protector” Society.
Wrote smartly to Bessell for not answering my letters for payment of account.
Went up to London to Hole’s on business of U.K.S.
Returned to Oxford.
Wrote to Bishop of Oxford (Mackarness) asking permission to offer myself as a candidate for Deacon’s Orders after taking my degree which I hope to do in June next.
Finished Pastoral Theology lectures with Dr Ogilvie.

Wrote to Dean of Bristol for Testimonial.
Mr Iago came on a brief visit.

Mr Eldred Harris came this evening.
Mr E Harris and his Vicar Reverend Southgate of Northfleet came to luncheon.
Dined at Exeter College with Mr Fletcher.
Harry went to London on a visit to Mr Hole.
Overend, Cull, Mr Neill Gibson, Fletcher and Featherstone came to dinner.
