Conserving a village

Most Sibford villagers recognise that successful conservation presumes conversation. If we find reason for complaint with a neighbour on environmental grounds, we should try conversation before reaching for rules and regulations and the due processes of law.

After all, conservation, if it is to mean anything, is not confined to stones, slates and mortar, or even the green green grass of home. It is also about the people of the village living together and there is every likelihood that we have more in common than in dispute.

We are all concerned with the environment, even though occasionally we may need advice and conversation with our neighbours.

Ernest Jones.
