The Sibford Gower Parish Council in conjunction with CDC has organised equipment for a Spring clean of the villages! If you have some time to spare to help keep our village verges clean and litter free, please call Alan Berks on 01295 780652 to organise collection of your litter picking kit (limited numbers available). Ideally the litter picks would take place before 28 April. The equipment should be returned to Alan and the rubbish can go to him too, or disposed of in your own wheelie bins.
We are looking for volunteers to cover the following areas – Pound Lane, High Meadow, Backside Lane, Main Street, Acre Ditch, Bonds End Lane, Colony Road, Barley Close, Sycamore Close, Hawks Lane, Surgery Road.

The Parish Council has been consulted on planning application 24/00613/F The Pheasant Pluckers Inn, Burdrop, OX15 5RQ – Amended design to 16/01525/F. As the Parish Council currently has only 4 councillors and 2 of those are the owners of the property that this application relates to, the Parish Council does not have the required number of councillors eligible to vote (3) to lawfully submit a response to this application. As is the case for all planning applications parishioners are able to submit a response directly to Cherwell District Council via their planning portal at https://www.cherwell.gov.uk/info/115/planning-process/857/search-and-comment-on-planning-applications

Sibford Gower Parish Council currently has a vacancy for a parish councillor. If you are enthusiastic about your community and would like to work as part of team to maintain and improve the village then please consider joining the Parish Council.
The Parish Council meets 4 times per year (Mar, May, Sep, and Dec) with the occasional need to call extra meetings due to planning applications or other urgent matters. The dates for meetings in 2024 are:

Wikipedia has this to say about whist drives:
A whist drive is a social event at which progressive games of whist are played across a number of tables which are numbered or ordered into a sequence.
In it, the winning (or sometimes losing, dependent on the local custom) pair of a hand “progress” around the room, i.e. one person moves up the table sequence and one person moves down. On arriving at the new table, the next hand is played.
