Sibford Gower Parish Council request re CEE Bill
CEE Bill
Parish Councils in Oxfordshire are being invited by an organisation called Zero Hour Oxfordshire to sign an open letter to our local MPs in support of the proposed Climate & Ecological Emergency Bill (CEE Bill). This is a Private Member’s Bill which includes legally binding targets for all levels of government to address the dual global threats to our climate and to our ecology.
Local interest in climate change has recently increased, with some well attended presentations at our Village Hall, and individuals may feel that they wish to sign the open letter which can be found at https://www.ceebillallianceoxon.co.uk/open-letter/
However, given that the scope of the proposed CEE Bill extends significantly beyond the current policies of both our major political parties, the Gower Council is seeking views from our community before we decide, at our next Parish Council meeting in January, whether to sign the open letter as an organisation.
You can let us know your views by writing to our Parish Clerk, Kirsty Buttle, using the contact details below.
We look forward to hearing from you.
