(December 2007) Cotswold Close Play Area

A person sitting in a chairThank you to all who attended the re-opening ceremony on 19th October. It was a very pleasant occasion, with a good number of people attending and plenty of refreshments, kindly sponsored by a local company, and the weather stayed fine. Balloons to decorate the equipment were donated by Walrus Toys of Shipston-on-Stour, so thank-you to them for their support too. There were games for the children although mostly they just wanted to try out all the imaginative apparatus supplied by Trevor Stewart.

Chris Franklin made a speech acknowledging all the volunteers who had contributed to the achievement of the refurbishment and then handed over to Bernie Jones to cut the ribbon and declare the play area officially open. Bernie joined the Play Area Liaison Group that did a lot of research into the best scheme for the site; but her involvement goes back a lot further and there would have been no play area to refurbish without her perseverance and determination 15 or so years ago. The Parish Council and all involved hope that this facility will give enjoyment to children and their families for a number of years.
