On 8th November a goodly number of villagers gathered around the simple stone cross in the churchyard of Holy Trinity, Sibford.

As a bugle sounded the Last Post, memories of comrades, friends, relations and loved ones, who had died in the terrible wars of this century, passed through our minds, together with thoughts of all who had given their lives in these armed conflicts – among them the eleven local men whose names are carved at the base of our war memorial:
