(April 1990) Most interesting historic occasion?
While going through old family papers I came across two of the first telegrams received at Sibford Ferris Post Office on the day it became a telegraph office, on the 26th August 1896.
They were sent from Ireland to my great-grand father by two of his sons; each telegram took about one hour to get here and they were sent merely to mark the great occasion!
As the Post Office was at that time at the old Bakehouse and the Lamb family house was next door there would be little difficulty in the final stage of delivery.
