Breakfasted at Club. Walked to Long Acre to enquire price of carriage cloth, etc. Thence to the Exchange and Mart Office 170 Strand to see their “file”, but found they did not keep one.

Met Thomas, fellow of Jesus, outside Club. he said Hughes was in town but he had not met him.

Walked into Oxford Street and bought dress etc at ?Grask’s? for Bell. Lunch at Club. Cab to Paddington Station at 3.30. Left at 4.45 for Banbury. Thomas of Jesus College in same carriage. Hughes in same train. I saw him at Oxford where I had to change. reached home about 8.45 gratias tibi Domine. All well.
