Royal Events Floral Display

The Sibfords through Seven Decades of Elizabeth’s Reign

Thursday 2 June, 14:30

Exhibition in the Village Hall (small hall), open throughout the weekend.

Torch Light Procession and Beacon

Thursday 2 June, 21:30

Join us for the torch light procession, leading to the lighting of the Sibford Beacon. Bring your own electric torches, lanterns, phones.

  • Start from the Gower pond at 21:30
  • Beacon lighting in Village Hall field at 21:45 to coincide with other countrywide beacons.

The Queen’s Green Canopy

Friday 3 June, 11:00 – 12:30

Sibford Ferris Parish Council have allocated some land in Pitch Hill field (a few metres north of the telephone exchange) to plant trees to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Some trees have already been planted, courtesy Sibford Ferris Parish Council, but there is space for more trees for people who would like to plant a commemorative tree as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy but have no space on their own property.

In June, the trees will have to be in containers. Anyone who would like to plant a tree on this occasion should contact Keith Hicks on 01295 780 259 or keith@hicks-sibford.co.uk  as soon as possible and no later than Saturday 27 May.

A plaque will be unveiled on the site to mark the occasion.

Sibford History Walk

Friday 3 June, 14:30

Join a knowledgeable guide in a walk through some of the interesting historical sites in the village. Meet at the Village Hall car park at 14:15.

Village Hall – Rich Brew Disco. A special disco for young people with soft drinks available to purchase from the Bar. Children under 10 to be accompanied by an adult.

Live Music Event and bar

Live music from The SKEPTICS and RED & GREY.

Licensed bar. The live music sessions will be interspersed with Disco sessions right up to midnight.

Thanksgiving Service

Sunday 5 June, 12:15

Holy Trinity Church: Service of Thanksgiving for seventy years of the Queen’s reign. 

The Big Lunch

Sunday 5 June

Village Hall field – or in the hall if wet.

Bring your own food and drink and enjoy a convivial lunch at the same time as the rest of the nation is taking part in the Big Lunch. Bring your own tables and chairs if required.

  • 13:00 Lunch
  • 14:30 Announcement of the Winners-of the Jubilee Flag Competition. View all the flags in the Village hall
  • 15:00 Official Planting of the Platinum Jubilee Oak in the Village Hall field, together with the unveiling of a plaque to mark this historic event – a reminder of the Sibfords traditions for future generations.

Jubilee Quiz

Sunday 5 June, 18:30

Wykham Arms – A brain tickling Pub Quiz organised by Debbie and Damian to round off the Jubilee weekend.

Platinum Flag Competition

A competition for all village children to design a flag in line with the national River of Hope competition. These will be printed and used to decorate the Village Hall. The winners will be announced at the Picnic Lunch on Sunday 5 June.

Entries must be A4 size, in colour and should meet the design criteria of

Hope for the future with a spotlight on the environment and protecting the planet.

There are two classes: up to and including the age of 10, and 11 to 17 inclusive.  There will be one prize for each class. Entries close on Friday 27th May. Entries should be sent digitally in as high a resolution as possible (at least 3000 pixels on longest dimension) to keith@hicks-sibford.co.uk or give a paper copy to one of the Steering Group Members: David Bennett, Ann Bishop, Revd. Neil Bowler, Keith Hicks, Tim Huckvale, Gilian Soden.

We are delighted that you have chosen to attend the events of the Jubilee Weekend. Please be aware that the village hall field, the History Walk and village roads may involve uneven surfaces. The Torchlight Procession, Beacon and Fireworks provide particular hazards and everyone attends entirely at their own risk. For your own safety, please remain diligent and observant at all times and ensure that children do not roam unaccompanied.

Please be aware that the Sibfords Photographic Club will be taking photographs during all of the four days of events. The photos might appear in local publications and be posted on the Internet.
